Church and society committee
The Committee remit is:
- to advise Synod and local churches in all matters concerning the church’s relations to society and in particular to the national institutions in Scotland
- to engage as appropriate in the Scottish Parliamentary consultative procedure and to work with the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office
- to maintain a two way communication with General Assembly Church and Society work
- to promote understanding and engagement in matters of racial justice
- to promote understanding and participation in constructive inter-faith relations
- to support the work of Eco-congregations Scotland to advise synod and local churches of relevant environmental matters
- to support the work of the Scottish Churches Rural Group and to advise synod and local churches on relevant rural matters
- to support the work of Christian Aid and Commitment for Life which exist to help the world’s poorest, to work for a fairer world and for peace with justice
