Duke Street Church Opening On Saturday 14 April 2007 Duke Street United Reformed Church opened as part of a development on the site of the original church Port of Leith Housing Association and Duke Street URC entered into partnership in 2001, whereby the Housing Association bought the Duke Street church building and agreed the buy-back of a modern church building meeting all requirements of disabled access, etc. The new building comprises a main hall with one end closed off which contains the communion table, stained glass windows and organ casement. The screen allows the hall to be used by organisations without the risk of damage to the sanctuary area. There is also a small hall for meetings of up to 25 people and a fully-fitted kitchen suitable for church needs going forward. There are chair stores and storage for organisations as well as a church office. Members have taken well to the new building with most people commenting on the feeling the building generates.
